SVDX Annual Dinner: Is the End Near for VCs?
September 8 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Beginning of the End for Venture Capital?
For decades, Silicon Valley’s venture capital industry has been the envy of the world. Many argue that the seeds of destruction, sown in the boom that has recently come to an abrupt end, have germinated and spell the end of an era of Silicon Valley venture capital supremacy. While the problems may have evolved from over-valued start-ups and entitled founders to a crisis of cash strapped companies that have known only good times, the question remains the same: will the Silicon Valley style of venture capital remain relevant in a changed world that might be incompatible with the sharing and gig economies, hostile to globalization and immigration, and yearning for less risk taking, not more?
The SVDX annual dinner has featured some of the most sought-after voices in board education and corporate governance best practices. We use the annual dinner as a celebration of boards of directors, and an opportunity to help directors and others to network. For the 2020 annual dinner we are pleased to present a panel of experts to discuss the current state of venture capital and what boards should know about the future of this Silicon Valley staple.
